OUR STORY
MINNESOTA HISTORICAL SOCIETY
Zion Baptist Church was organized by escaped slaves from Missouri. They first started Pilgrim Baptist church in St Paul, Minnesota in 1863. The Reverent Robert T. Hickman organized two mission churches, Zion Baptist in Minneapolis and another one in Hastings, Minnesota. On February 7, 1889, Zion Baptist Church filed Articles of Corporation to be designated as a non-profit corportation.
Zion Baptist Church is excited to mark its 134th Church Anniversary in February 2024. For over a century, we've been a pillar of faith, hope and service in Minneapolis, dedicated to fostering a Christ-centered community reaching out to those in need. Led by Pastor Dr. Brian C. Herron, Sr. for the last 17 years and under his leadership, Zion has continued to be committed to making a difference in the lives of the community, city and state prayerfully impacting the world.

February 24, 2024 we will be celebrating this occasion with a fundraiser dinner.
